#mondaymentors: Pandora Sykes
If you’re into British fashion, or just a podcast-lover, odds are high you’ve heard of Pandora Sykes. The former Fashion Features Editor for The Sunday Times Style, Pandora has since pursued a career as a freelance writer, brand consultant and co-host of the incredibly popular podcast, The High Low.
Receiving 150,000 weekly downloads for The High Low, and a lengthy list of sponsorships, Pandora’s CV is any podcaster’s dream. Although I respect her prestige, however, Pandora really inspires me because of her ability to pursue so many different things, all without diluting her success in each one. Pandora has a special ability to align each project with her own personal brand, and to put her full soul into everything she does. Even the snapshots of her home interiors on Instagram and her travels are so cool, and so distinctly HER. In short, every project she does, whether it’s a collaboration with Hunza G or a culture podcast, is actually good, and actually makes sense for her.
While the concept of ‘personal brand’ can seem contrived, and confining, Pandora uses it to her advantage. Instead of having a personal brand that’s a narrow pigeon-hole, Pandora uses her brand as a means to show how multi-dimensional she is. In being authentic through her work, Pandora gives herself the space to pursue anything she wants. And for that, she is a very well-deserved #mondaymentors feature for this week.
P.S: Pandora, you’d be a dream to have on the show!
