Recently, I was speaking with a friend of mine about TED talks. While we both agreed on adoring Brene Brown, Susan Cain and Mel Robbins, we had always believed the only ‘fashion’ talks were modelling horror stories.

Upon deeper Google search, however, I was thankfully proven wrong. After trawling through the TED site till 1am, I came across “Fashion your future: Think more like a fashion designer” by fashion academic Suzi Vaughn.

Initially, I was unsure whether a sewing call-to-action would make me feel all-kinds-of inspired. Once I started playing the talk, I was really happy to hear a poignant, intelligent and much-needed 9-step strategy to thinking more like a fashion designer.

Whether you’re an uninspired fashion creative, entrepreneur or accountant, I think her principles of will help you enjoy those moments where your fashion career intersects with your after-work life.
