#mondaymentors : Emmanuelle Alt
When asked ‘who is your style icon’, Emmanuelle Alt is always the first editor who comes to mind. In addition to being the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Paris, she also enjoys beautifully tailored blazers, cool-girl haircuts and fast cars. Married to the Art Director for Isabel Marant, she’s a total vision of French cool.
If curating an incredible, well-respected magazine (IMO the coolest version of VOGUE available), wasn’t enough, she’s also a champion for young designers, explaining to BoF that, young designers ‘keep my curiousity up’ and how it’s ‘rare to find a big trésor, so you must keep looking.’
Combining her enthusiasm for new talent with beautiful imagery, I can always count on her feed, @emmanuellealt to keep me in-the-know on what’s currently cool (and what will become cool). In an industry full of people who all dress the same, and who aspire to French-girl chic, Emmanuelle Alt is a next-level fashion queen. Somehow, she achieves the style everyone wants to have not only personally, but also through interesting content.
While some say the fashion magazine is ‘dead’ and that editors are being replaced by ‘influencers’ at lightning speed, Emmanuelle is one of the last vestiges of hope.
*For real, pick up a copy of Vogue Paris this week – even if you don’t speak French.
